OK guys, here's the joke of the year :D

On my way home last night I hit Bambi as it ran across the road, fortunately I wasn't going fast and I managed to brake enough to just a glancing blow however the front nearside wheel trim was ripped off. this morning I phoned my Land rover dealer for a price for 6 blue plastic clips to fit the trim back on.

Sit down now, here's the punch line :) "that will be £15.60, do you want me to order them?"

Search on Ebay £2.35 for 10

Glad Bambi is safe, but it's sad about the car though.

I can't believe some of the prices they charge , have they not realised that by better pricing a small profit is better than none at all.

The point is of course that this is a bodyshop item and therefore more likely to be paid for by insurers than the actual owner. They are happy to rip off the insurers (and thus, ultimately, us) and can't charge different prices to personal customers. They also know that if someone is paying £hundreds for a body repair they won't notice an extortionate price for clips. They also have to inflate the price to allow for the "discount" they give to other companies.
Probably the only way they can offload them at a sensible price is via e-bay.

That sort of mark-up explains why 6 of M6 Steel Bolts that hold the engine tray on are £30+ vat. You would think they were titanium coated for that price!!
