Can someone help a confused newbie...?

Good afternoon all,
I bought a used 17 plate Discovery Sport Pure Special Edition on the 4th December and I love it! Truly in love!
However, I'm coming out of an Audi A6 Avant Black Edition and 1 down side I've noticed is the "bells and whistles" that are missing compared to the Audi...I knew this would be the case but I'm trying to plug the gaps where possible.
I've read about InControl and it seems good. But it has confused the life out of me...
I have downloaded the apps for my iPhone (Route Planner, Remote and Apps) but I'm non the wiser...

Maybe you can help me with a couple of questions? (Please bear in mind that I am not particularly technical - so go easy on me!)

1) In a nutshell what is InControl? Is it available on all Discovery Sports?
2) As it is used, do I need to get it re-set? I called my local dealership and they mentioned it costing £135 as it was a technical job??? Is that the case...or did I ask the receptionist the wrong question? Can it be done more cheaply if in fact that "is" the cost?

You must get tons of newbies on all the time so sincere apologies if I'm being dumb.

Hello and welcome.

The InControl Remote and InControl Apps are only available on a Discovery Sport if they were included at the build stage. One way you can find out is to ask your dealer the other is to create an account on Topix and look at the details of your vehicle.

https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/

InControl Remote provides remote viewing of vehicle location, lock status, mileage, fuel status, oil, tyres etc and journey history.

InControl Apps always you to plug in your iPhone or Android phone and use 18 different apps (Spotify I think is the only one that is actually free).

If you happen to have the 10inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment system (and the latest version) you can use CarPlay or Android Auto. You can also install the InControl Route planner app and remotely setup your satnav.

From the fact it is a Pure means it probably only have InControl Protect for the warranty period giving you access to the InControl Remote.

The dealer can help you set it up but you can also follow:

Hope that helps

Thank you so much for your reply.
I have registered on Topix but can't seem to find any answers?
Essentially what I'm interested in is whether I can play music from Spotify through the Discovery. I purchased the car privately and the seller wasn't very technical (or at least didn't explain much to me).
In a perfect world I would be able to use my phone satnav on the touch screen but by the sound of it that is unlikely?

That sound about right?

In Topix, enter your VIN then go to vehicle details. In minor details (listed alphabetically) it will say INCONTROL APPS if you have that feature.

I am pretty sure you have inControl Protect for the Remote app.

As for connecting your phone for satnav, without Apps then no you won't. However some people have had luck with connecting the phone over bluetooth or using a Google dot to speak the directions. Please search the forum to find out.

Hope that helps.

Good morning,

If you PM me your VIN, I will look at your original build sheet. It is unlikely given your model variant that you will have ICTP which has the Spotify App built in, but there is nothing to stop you using the App on your phone and either using Bluetooth or a cabled connection to the Auxiliary In to listen to Spotify that way. The only issue that you will face is navigating the Spotify app, as you won't be able to see what you are doing whilst concentrating on your driving.

Hope that helps.

The AUX is the auxiliary sound input. It means you can use an phono cable to take the headphone jack from a phone and plug it into the car. However, you can achieve a better setup by linking the phone via Bluetooth as you can then use the Touch screen to select the music.
